Guardians of Middle-Earth Thorin Guide by DarkAce006
I am DarkAce006 and this is my build and guild to playing Thorin the great Dwarven Warrior.
There are two loadouts that I have found to be good but I play the first one more then the 2nd. Most people use life steal with Thorin but he does not need life steal when he has shield. Most people are trading life for damage and critical hits. but you will see in the end that damage and critical chance is what Thorin needs.
First thing is loadout. I go with the 4 red gem relic Goblin-Gate with a 2 red gem relic Red Arrow. Thorin is all about the critical hit and getting to chance with one will help you get a lot of kills. Goblin-Gate Relic gives you 6% + 1% critical chance per level. Giving you 20% critical chance once level 14. That is not all it does it give you +2% critical damage for every critical hit you do, but only stacking up to 15 times without lost from death. That gives you +30% critical damage. Now that is just the relic with the gems inside will be give you 30% more critical damage and +4% basic attack damage if you have all mithril gems. Now I could have went all out with critical damage and chance with this build if using Red Book Relic but He needs to have some basic attack damage. So that is why I went with Red Arrow Relic. This relic will get you +2% damage on your basic attack for every Ruby in belt. Giving you 14% of damage once level 14. I put 2 Ruby of strength's giving you 4% critical chance for each. So if you add all that up this is what you are looking at. At level 14 you will have:
+28% Critical chance
+60% Critical damage (that is if you get all 15 stacks, which you will get most of the time)
+22% Attack damage
With loadout looking like this:
Goblin-Gate Relic with 3 Ruby of Precision and a Ruby of Harm then Red Arrow Relic with 2 Ruby of Strength, and for the last spot I go with one more Ruby of Harm.
Now if you go with the Red Book Relic you will get:
+42% Critical chance
+60% Critical damage (that is if you get all 15 stacks, which you will get most of the time)
+8% Attack damage
This might look better to some of you and others it may not, but both work great.
With loadout looking like this:
Goblin-Gate Relic with 3 Ruby of Precision and a Ruby of Harm then Red Book Relic with 2 Ruby of Strength, Last spot Ruby of Harm.
I use both of these loadouts because looking at Thorin skill set I can see that he is made for critical hits.
Now I will show you what you will see when using his ult (Heart of the Mountain) at level 14.
With the first loadout you will see this:
+68% Critical chance
+85% Critical damage (that is if you get all 15 stacks, which you will get most of the time)
+22% Attack damage
you will only get this for 5 seconds
With the 2nd loadout you will see this:
+82% Critical chance
+85% Critical damage (that is if you get all 15 stacks, which you will get most of the time)
+8% Attack damage
only for 5 seconds.
Now the 2nd loadout is better for his ult, but the first loadout is better for his skill Wrath, Which increase movement speed and attack speed. You might be asking how? I am saying this more attack damage for a faster time = more damage. And even landing a critical after using Wrath will do the same damage.
Now his skill Revenge will tell you which one is better. With the first loadout you will have less chance of landing a critical hit. And with the 2nd you will have more of a chance to land one but do you give up the attack damage for the chance that is what you pick.
In-game
I go lv2 Revenge, lv3 Wrath, lv4 Revenge, Lv5 Heart of the Mountain, lv6 Wrath, Lv7 Heart, Lv8 Revenge, Lv9 Heart, Lv10 Wrath, Lv11 Heart, Lv12 Oakenshield, Lv13 Oakenshield, Lv14 Oakenshield.
When to use skills?
I use Wrath right before attacking giving me increased movement speed and attack speed. I use Oakenshield when attacking turrets or when taking a lot of damage from the other team. Revenge this skill tells everyone if you are good or not, by knowing when to use it. Never use this skill right away for doing a lot of damage at first and you will only see the other team run away leaving you with out a kill. Use Revenge as the last hit. I would wait till they have only 2 bars left. with means that have about 100 hp left. Using Revenge now will give you the kill and the upper hand. Remember anyone can spam skills. But knowing which ones to spam and which ones to save is key to a good game. Now Thorin's ult. is unlike any others in this game. I would use it right before landing a hit on the other team. Because most of the time it will be a critical hit. You do not want to waste his ult on turrets. Only use it when attack the other team and you will do a lot of damage. Now Thorin does not have a stun, taunt, knockup, or a root. So running away will be hard and keeping the other team from running will be hard too. So I like to keep Oakenshield handy for running away. Saving Oakenshield sometimes saves you but it can also keep you from getting a kill because you didnt use it to keep you in the fight. You can use Oakenshield like this use it when running in to battle with Wrath then when taking to much damage using it and running out. This only works half of the time so dont use it like this to much for the other team will just wait for Oakenshield to go on cooldown and stun or root you. (If the other team knows what they are doing) If they don't most of the time they run when the see the shield up.
I know that is a lot and well I wish I had a video to show you how I play Thorin, but I dont. Maybe one day but for now I can only tell you by words. I hope you liked and please comment what you think and if this worked for you or not.
